Toppenish man dies in shooting

TOPPENISH -- A 24-year-old man died Saturday morning after being shot multiple times, according to the Toppenish Police Department.

The victim, Alejandro Salas of Toppenish, was at a friend's house in the 10 block of West Third Avenue when another man arrived. The two men, who are affiliated with the same gang, got into an altercation about 12:30 a.m. The reason for the altercation remains unknown, according to police.

Witnesses found Salas shot and lying in the street. A vehicle arrived, loaded him inside and brought him to a hospital, where he later died. No one else was wounded.

The suspect is at large.
