NWL -- Everett handcuffs Yakima
Early home runs hold up as AquaSox hold Bears to five hits

Yakima Herald-Republic

EVERETT -- Two early home runs proved more than enough as the Everett AquaSox beat the Yakima Bears 7-1 on Friday night at Everett Memorial Stadium.

Everett's Dennis Raben hit a solo home run in the second inning, while Nate Tenbrink followed with a two-run shot in the third.

Everett starting pitcher Aaron Brown worked four innings, allowing just one hit before departing in favor of Christian Staehley (1-0).

Yakima's Collin Cowgill, the league leader in home runs, did not homer Friday, but drove in Yakima's only run in the eighth inning with a single.

Everett's Staehley allowed four hits and the lone Yakima run, which was unearned because it followed his own throwing error.

Yakima's Ian Harrington (1-1) worked six innings, allowing eight hits and three earned runs.

Everett played add-on in the sixth inning when Raben scored on a passed ball by Yakima's Jhoan Pimentel.

The AquaSox scored again in the seventh inning on a double play and in the eighth on RBI from Brandon Fromm and George Soto.
