BOISE, Idaho -- The No. 9 hitter for Boise helped the last-place Bears reach another dubious milestone Wednesday night.

Marwin Gonzalez, the Hawks' second baseman, hit a go-ahead, RBI double in the eighth inning as Boise dealt Yakima its 45th defeat of the Northwest League season, 8-6 before an announced crowd of 2,764 at Memorial Stadium.

While Boise maintained its slim East Division title hopes, trailing first-place Spokane by six games with seven remaining, the Bears reached the 45-loss mark for the third time in four years and fourth eight seasons as an Arizona Diamondbacks affiliate.

The teams end their six game series, which the Hawks lead 3-2, tonight, after which Yakima moves to Tri-City on Friday night before returning home against the Dust Devils on Saturday.

The Bears led 4-3 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, but Boise scored once in that frame and twice in each of the seventh and eighth.

Gonzalez' one-out double in the eighth put Boise ahead 7-6 and Drew Rundle's two-bagger with two out capped the scoring.

Yakima had tied it 6-6 in the top of the inning on a run-scoring single by Roberto Rodriguez, who was 3-for-4, and a throwing error on the same play.

The Bears scored once in the first on Jimmy Principe's RBI single, again in the third on Anthony Smith's run-scoring groundout and twice in the fourth on Andrew Fie's two-run homer. It was Fie's fourth round-tripper of the year.

Santo Baez, who allowed both earned runs in eighth, took the loss.
