BOISE -- Just when it seems like Ian Harrington has reached his rookie-season best, he gets better.

Yakima's ace left-hander pitched five scoreless innings against the Northwest League's top-hitting team and led the Bears to a 3-1 victory over Boise at Memorial Stadium on Tuesday night.

Harrington's mastery was sustained by the bullpen, which sent out Wade Miley for two scoreless innings, then Daniel Vasquez and Jordan Meaker to finish up as the Bears moved to 2-2 in the six-game, home-and-home series with the Hawks.

Scattering four singles and allowing only one Boise baserunner to reach third base, Harrington earned his sixth win in his last seven starts, lowered his earned-run average to 3.40 and moved into a tie for second in wins after starting 0-4.

The Hawks' only threat against Harrington, came in the fifth inning. But David Macias grounded out to third with the bases loaded.

In support of Harrington, Yakima's offense was in solid form, piling up 12 hits with Justin Parker contributing a 3-for-4 night with two doubles and Brendan Duffy also collecting three hits.

Parker got the Bears on the board first in the fourth inning, singling with one out and later scoring on Jhoan Pimentel's single to center.

Parker sparked a two-run sixth with a one-out double and he scored on Andrew Fie's single for a 2-0 lead. Fie later scored on Greg Bordes' sacrifice fly.
