SUNNYSIDE -- Detectives are seeking the identity of a woman's body that was found floating in a Sunnyside canal Friday evening.

The woman, between the age of 18 and 25, appeared to have a large gunshot wound, according to a news release from the Yakima County Sheriff's Office. An autopsy is planned for Monday.

Police believe the body was in the canal about 48 hours. The body was floating in a canal near the 5500 block of Emerald Road outside of Sunnyside.

The woman appeared to be Hispanic, between 5 feet, 2 inches and 5 feet, 6 inches tall and between 110 and 130 pounds. She was wearing a black T-shirt, blue jean shorts, a silver watch, three rings on her right hand and large hoop earrings.

Detectives ask anyone with information about the case to call 574-2500.
