Seattle singer-songwriter Camille Bloom is no stranger to Yakima's Franklin Park.

She's played her alluring acoustic-rock-with-an-attitude there plenty of times as part of the Yakima Folklife Festival. And next Thursday, Bloom will serve as the unofficial Folklife opener when she kicks off the Summer Sunset Concert Series in Franklin Park at 20th Avenue and Tieton Drive. (Folklife hits the park two days later.)

The free Summer Sunset Concerts run from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursdays. The five-week run begins with Bloom, and continues with Pat Moss on July 17; Mark Holt & Friends on July 24; Geoffrey Castle on Aug. 7; and Chris Koza on Aug. 14.

Spectators are welcome to bring blankets, low-back chairs and picnic dinners, but not alcoholic beverages.

For more information, call the Yakima Parks and Recreation Department at 575-6020.

AND DON'T FORGET, at the same time, same place, you can catch the ArtsVan for free family fun.

Presented by Allied Arts of Yakima Valley, kids (recommended for ages 2-12) and their folks are invited to make a different art project each week with the theme "Creatively Green."

For more information, call the Allied ArtsCenter at 966-0930, or visit www.alliedartsyakima.org.
