QUINCY -- A week after his scintillating 10.36-second dash in the 100 meters, Selah's Brett Blanshan popped a state-leading time in the 200 and finished with three wins at Friday's CWAC district track and field meet.
Blanshan won the 100 convincingly in 10.78 and then dropped his 200 best to 21.69, his first time under 22 seconds.. He also won the long jump and anchored a second-place 4x100 relay.
The top three placers qualified for the Class 2A state meet in Tacoma on May 23-24.
East Valley's Jonathan Buchanan uncorked a shot put of 56 feet, 61/2 inches -- over three feet beyond his previous best -- and his won the discus at 152-7, another career best.
Selah's TJ Hesselgesser won the 800 and 1,600, and Prosser's Cade Wandling won the 400, ran on the winning 4x100 and 4x400 relays and placed second in the 200.
In the girls meet, Ellensburg's Kayla Standish won the 100 hurdles and triple jump and Toppenish's Jennifer Farley matched Hesselgesser's sweep. Standish also tied for second in the high jump and helped the Bulldogs win the 4x100 relay.
Team scores were not available Friday night.

RICHLAND -- Eisenhower sophomore Jessica Bush won the shot put and Davis' Sandra Martinez finished second in the 3,200-meter run on the first day of competition at Fran Rish Stadium.
The top three placers in Friday's scattered finals qualified for state in Pasco on May 23-24. Competition resumes at 10:30 a.m. today.
Bush's winning throw was 37 feet, 21/2 inches. Martinez clocked 10:55.92 to dip under 11 minutes in the 3,200 for the first time this season.
Eisenhower's boys qualified for state with a second-place finish in the 4x100 relay.

Jaquish advances in two events
RICHLAND -- Sunnyside senior Jordyne Jaquish punched her ticket to state twice on Friday during the first day of the 3A regional meet at Fran Rish Stadium.
Jaquish placed second in the long jump at 16-111/2 and fourth in the high jump at 5-21/2.
The top three placers qualified for state in Pasco on May 23-24. Jaquish advanced in the high jump by matching the qualifying standard. Teammate Claire Schilperoort did the same in the javelin.
Sunnyside's Brice Rinehold placed second in the discus to add to the Grizzlies' big day.
West Valley's Stephanie Shuel and Audrey Urlacher placed 2-3 in the 3,200, and teammate Kira Lewis was third in the long jump.
Competition resumes at 10:30 a.m. today.
