WAPATO -- A 2-year-old Wapato boy died Friday when a television fell on top of him.
The accident occurred about 12:50 p.m. in the 600 block of West Ninth Street in Wapato. Sgt. Bruce Benscoter said the child wasn't breathing when police arrived at the home. He was transferred to Yakima Yalley Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a few minutes later.
According to autopsy results, the boy's death was caused by a basal skull fracture. It was ruled an accident.
Benscoter estimated that the television was 37 inches to 40 inches wide. The investigation is continuing, and the boy's name was not released.
