This past Friday, owner Joe Simon opened the doors to his new Simon Gallery in downtown Yakima.
The bigger and brighter show space earned a warm reception from the folks who stopped by the grand opening. (Spotted were such artists as Leo Adams, Denali Granholm, Delma Tayer and even tattoo artist Jim Rosal.)
Formerly on Summitview Avenue adjacent to Simon's home furnishings boutique The Shopkeeper -- and formerly called the Simon Edwards Gallery -- the gallery is now at 321 E. Yakima Ave. in the Great Western Building.
"It's where it's happening," Gallery manager Irene M. Pearcey said about moving downtown.
The gallery's new locale is also across from The Shopkeeper's downtown store. Hours for the gallery are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Currently on display are new works by Elena Korakianitou and James Craig. The show runs through Oct. 31.
For more information, call Simon Gallery at 248-6886.
